One of Yarndale’s most exciting and highly anticipated annual events is the Worldwide Creative Project, which brings woolly makers together from around the world to work on one huge shared make. Each individual contribution from knitters and crocheters combines to make an impressive large-scale yarn installation that’s displayed at the show to delight visitors throughout the weekend.
This year’s creative challenge is to knit or crochet individual flowers to create a stunning Yarndale Meadow. These blooms can be any colour, but should be up to 10cm in size and need to be sent in no later than 7 September.
The Yarndale team has also announced that for 2024 Martin House Children’s Hospice will be their charity partner. This amazing charity offers free hospice care for children and young people in Yorkshire with life-limiting conditions. Since opening in 1987, advancements in clinical research and palliative medicine have resulted in children and young people living for longer, with more complex needs, and the facilities need to change with them.
To this end, Yarndale is supporting the charity in its £21.9 million transformation project called The Build.
Further details about Yarndale’s charity partner and the Worldwide Creative Project, including two free patterns to download, are available at yarndale.co.uk.
Yarndale takes place in Skipton, Yorkshire, on 28–29 September and tickets are on sale now.
