Samite Silk Blend DK is a glorious silk and wool-blend yarn
from Blacker Yarns, which has all the drape of Bluefaced Leicester, the bounce
of Shetland and the luxurious feel of recycled silk, but with more durability
and stitch definition than silk, making it perfect for colourwork, cables and
textured projects. Relaunched to celebrate Blacker Yarns’ birthday and in
homage to the legend of King Arthur, the name ‘Samite’ is inspired by luxurious
heavy silk fabrics with a twill-type weave often worn in the Middle Ages. The
colour range includes on undyed grey shade and seven dyed shades – with names
such as Lancelot and Guinevere!
Blacker Yarns has also launched a new crochet kit using this gorgeous yarn – the Mosaic Crochet Hot Water Bottle. Designed by Rebecca Anaspure, it’s a simple mosaic crochet design and the kit includes two 100g skeins of Samite Silk Blend DK plus one 20g mini skein in your chosen colours. We think this would be a gorgeous project for those keen to try mosaic crochet and finish in time for the end of summer – which always arrives in a flash!
