There’s a distinctly spring-like feel to our projects this month. The
weather may be taking longer to catch up with our optimism though, so
we’ve ensured they have enough versatility to cope. Take Valerie
Bracegirdle’s gorgeous floral motif – she uses the design in three
different ways. If it’s nippy, hook up a floral cowl or scarf for cosy
warmth, or wear unfurled and long on warmer days for a bright touch to
your outfit. Or make some zingy coasters, to add a flowery element to
your table, even on the dullest of days – then take them outdoors for a
cuppa when the sun shines!
Continuing the spring posies theme, I adore Sue Maton’s stunning
handbag. The bag’s joyful palette won’t fail to make you smile, while
the contrasting, pretty blue pom-pom edge is a delight. I can see this
tote working equally as well with a warm woollen coat as with a fl oral
tea dress.
Has anyone else noticed the baby boom? My hook is worn out from all the baby hats, booties and blankets that I’ve made in the past few months. Just when I thought I was running out of cuties to whip up for the next new arrival, our columnist Rachel Atkinson has hooked a pair of vintage-inspired booties. The frilly edging and ribbon ties are so cute – and practical enough to ensure they stay on a pair of wriggling footsies! They’ll no doubt become a family heirloom for whomever is lucky enough to be gifted them. Now to start my pair…
Enjoy!
