Pomination!

Date: 7th August 2014 | Category: News

Kirstie Allsopp is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest line of pompoms this year everyone is invited to take part. The venture is in partnership with Sense, a national charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind.

Kirstie makes a mean pompom but she can't possibly do them all herself. To help achieve #WorldPomination, simply make 3 or more pompoms (check out our free tutorial here, be sure to leave your tie attached, be careful not to trim it off when cutting), tie them together and attach your name. Then either drop them off at your local Hobbycraft store or bring them to the The Handmade Fair this September.

“Imagine the fun of taking part in a Guinness World Record attempt! This is something we can all have a go at,” says Kirstie.

Hobbycraft stores across the country will also be holding 'pomination workshops' during the summer holidays for children to join in the fun. You'll be able to see all the pompoms collected together and witness the world record being broken live at The Handmade Fair.
As part of this exciting record attempt you can share your #WorldPomination pictures with The Handmade Fair community and be featured on our exclusive World Pomination Pinterest page. Simply post a picture of your pompoms on Facebook or Twitter with the hashtag #WorldPomination
Sense has made donations as easy as pompom making. The public can make a donation to this important charity by texting POMPOM to 70111.
Sue Piper, Head of Corporate Fundraising says: “We are delighted to support this world record attempt and urge as many people as possible to get involved, have some fun and help break the record. All donations will go towards our work in supporting and campaigning for children and adults throughout the UK.”
With so many ways to join in, what are you waiting for?  The world will be a much nicer place with all these pompoms.
