Autumn seems to have sneaked up on us this year, but at least the cooler weather means that we can dig out some cosy
wools and warmer fibres for snuggling up with some comforting crochet. You can’t get much cosier than working a granny square blanket, which is so familiar to hook and use that it is like the hug of an old friend.
The first shoot this issue has a distinctly granny-ish theme. We have taken inspiration from the humble granny cluster and come up with a collection of modern, bright and fun projects to make. Whether you are new to the technique or you can make the motif in your sleep, there should be a project to inspire you and stretch your skills.
Inside this issue:
Combine granny stripes with a simple t-shirt to give the classic look a modern update with Rohn Strong's Lottie Top, made in Sublime Egyptian Cotton DK.
Joanne Scrace gives the granny square a sophisticated makeover to create a beautiful yet bohemian light and airy scarf, made with Schoppel Wool Lace.
Simone Francis's relaxed, kimono-style dressing gown is designed to flatter and is made with DMC Natura Just Cotton.
These little mitts by Aoibhe Ni are easy to crochet, even for a beginner! The bows are a simple decorative touch that can be added to other projects too.
Sample uses Drops Karisma.
