Claire Montgomerie’s masterclass is a brilliant one, showing how to crochet the corner-to-corner stitch, also known as diagonal box stitch. This technique is ideal for those adventurous beginners looking to add to their own stitch bible and invites really innovative use of colour, as shown in Claire’s top design on page 18.

Another of my favourite things about this issue is the invitation to bust that stash. I have a load of favourite cotton yarns and Lucy Djevdet, Victoria Kairis and Millie Masterton have got me covered with their camera and bag strap, ice lolly amigurumi and embellished flip-flops, respectively.

So even if the only pool I get to visit this year is the local leisure centre, this issue transports me to that infinity pool with the swim-up tiki bar of my dreams! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, and don’t forget the SPF50…
