Shadows
are lengthening, the hay bales are neatly rolled in the fields and the promise
of cooler days is just around the corner – in other words, it’s the crocheter’s
favourite time of year!
I love the anticipation of autumn just as much as I love the season itself, so this issue celebrates the seasonal shift with warm colours and soft textures.
Esme Crick’s beautiful Seed Pod Shawl has made it to the top of my must-make list, as has the oh-so-chic gilet with its fabulous frilled collar, designed by Simone Francis. I also love Kwannie Cheng’s practical-but pretty hanging storage – the colours remind me so much of the wonder of the season and it’s ideal for bringing the outside in.
Emma Varnam’s column this month is all about wonder too – and that giddy feeling when one just lets go to play with stitch and shape to create something that elicits pure joy! Reading about Emma’s fruity turban and plushy penguin has certainly brought a smile to my face – and I gasped with delight when I saw the beautiful hedgehog ami from Victoria Kairis. Is there anything more fun than making something cute and silly?
I hope you get something wonderous on your hooks this month, and do remember to share your makes on social media with the hashtag #myinsidecrochet to be in with the chance of winning a digital subscription.
