Hand making a beautiful crochet piece can be a long process, so hardworking patterns that are versatile enough to transcend the seasons are a bonus. As summer begins to fade into autumn, we have some gorgeous projects that are perfect for the transition.
The “Road To Jaipur†waistcoat on page 48 uses a stunning stitch combination to create an incredibly pretty layering piece that will look just as good over a strappy dress as it would over a long-sleeved tee on cooler days. While the Lariat on page 74 can be worn in a myriad of different ways: as a belt or decorative necklace, or wrapped round the neck to create a cosy scarf.
We also have some mixed media projects this month made with materials you can find cheaply and easily to create striking results. The upcycled bag by Luz Mendoza is a fabulous example of how modern recycled projects can be. The crochet fabric looks great next to dark denim and creates a roomy, strong and practical shopper. The curtain on page 82 is retro-inspired, but Jo Bodley’s quirky use of buttons and curtain rings next to bobbles and chains creates an interesting adornment, whether to create a decorative fringe on an interior door or a practical screen for the back door on a hot day.
As if that is not enough, this issue you can also try your hand at stunning Mosaic crochet with the how-to guide on page 84 and of course continue with your beautiful floral blanket in our mystery CAL on page 26.
Happy crocheting!
