At the moment there seems to be a definite inclination to pay homage to everything retro. The Midcentury Modern theme is massive in interiors and both the sixties and seventies are trending on the catwalks yet again. I am a sucker for this era and so this issue includes a little nod to these trends. Granny squares were incredibly popular in the middle of the last century, but these days have been given a modern update with all sorts of beautiful designs available in refined colour palettes. I love the use of modern monochrome in the hooded scarf, while Helda Panagary’s bold and bright gadget cosy has a definite nod to the clashing brights of midcentury crochet, but also uses up-to-the-minute buckle fastenings as an apt addition to a thoroughly 21st century tech accessory.

Also top of my queue this month are San Bee’s blanket paired with Susie John’s striking cushion (right), which will definitely both be at home in my living room. The midcentury-inspired patterning of both is beautiful while the palette centred around cool blues is fresh and modern – the perfect way to recreate the retro look in your home without making it feel dated.
