Asta Booties by Dawn Turner and Jaydee Crochet

How about a special pair of crocheted booties to go with an heirloom christening dress? Here is a set inspired by the Irish Rose to be made as a gift or keepsake.
â— Newbornâ€“3 months: Patons 100% Cotton 4 Ply, 100g/330m/361yds Shade: Cream 1692 x 1 ball
â— 3â€“6 months James C Brett Twinkle DK, 96% acrylic/4% polyester, 100g/300m/328yds Shade: White TK2 x 1 ball
â— 2.5mm (3.5mm) hook
â— Two stitch markers
â— Yarn needle
â— Ribbon, 70â€“75cm/ 28â€“30in long
â— Tape measure
Smaller size may be worked in any fine crochet cotton, such as Katia Monaco Baby, or in any 4ply yarn with a 2.5mm or 3mm hook to suit.
Larger size may be worked in any DK weight cotton or blend of your choice, with a 3.5mm or 4mm hook.
Work the Rose to measure 4cm/1Â½in across using 4ply yarn and 2.5mm hook, 4.5cm/1Â¾in using DK yarn and 3.5mm hook, or 5cm/2in using DK yarn and 4mm hook, or sizes required to obtain tension.
Worked in 4ply yarn, these will measure approx 9cm/3Â½in from heel to toe.
Worked in a DK yarn they will measure approx 12cm/4Â¾in from heel to toe.
