Autumn Beaches Scarf by Valerie Bracegirdle
Photography by Lucy Williams
Inspired by the sands on British beaches, this scarf is made in yarn reminiscent of ripples of sand formed by the tide.
Pattern featured in issue 69 of Inside Crochet magazine.
● Yarns from the Plain Mobberley DK, 70% wool/ 30% alpaca, 100g/250m/273yds
Shade: Malted Chocolate x 1 skein
● 4mm hook
● Yarn needle
You can use any DK weight yarn to achieve a similar effect.
Each motif measures approximately 12 x 12cm/4½ x 4½in after blocking, using 4mm hook or size required to obtain tension.
Valerie describes herself as an “accidental designer” because she didn’t set out to become a designer, it just happened somewhere along the path of enjoying crochet and knitting. Read her blog at www.agrarianartisan.com and find her on Facebook as Agrarian Artisan.
The motifs are joined as you go by slip stitching in three different places along one side.
When joining motifs, for a neat finish do not sl st to join rnd 5, instead sew the last st.
