Painterly Wall Hanging By Claire Montgomerie
Find the pattern in issue 117 of Inside Crochet magazine.
Inspired by abstract art – bold blocks of colour, thick paint application, sweeping brush strokes and beautiful textures – this hanging is fun to hook and sumptuous to view.
● Malabrigo Worsted, 100% Merino wool, 100g/192m/210yds Yarn A: Bobby Blue 27 x 1 ball Yarn B: Whale’s Road 247 x 1 ball Yarn D: Azul Bolita 80 x 1 ball Yarn F: Frank Ochre 35 x 1 ball Yarn G: Fuchsia 93 x 1 ball Yarn H: Holly Hock 148 x 1 ball
● Malabrigo Chunky, 100% Merino wool, 100g/91m/100yds Yarn C: Water Green 83 x 1 ball Yarn E: Cactus Flower 21 x 1 ball Yarn I: Natural 63 x 1 ball (Note: Only small amounts of yarn are needed so stash yarn will also work well. Hanging uses approximately 170g of yarn in total. Playing with the size of the fur stitch will also affect the amount of yarn used.)
● 5.5mm hook
● Dowling rod or stick, 50cm/20in long
● Yarn needle
Any aran and chunky wool or wool mix yarns will substitute here. Or try in different weights for hangings of differing sizes and textures.
