New events at the American Museum of Britain this spring.


Easter Yarn Bombing Trail
Friday 3- Monday 6 April, 12noon–5pm

Back by popular demand, our Easter trail features springtime creatures and creations hand-crafted by Museum volunteers. Grab a trail sheet and see if you can find all of the knitted delights decorating the grounds to earn a chocolate egg.

Included with gardens only admission.

Talk: Wedding Dresses 1775- 2014

Thursday 16 April, 6.30pm drinks reception, 7pm talk

Edwina Ehrman, Curator of Fashion and Textiles at the Victoria and Albert Museum, discusses key pieces from the recent Wedding Dresses 1775- 2014 exhibition, and explores the history of the wedding dress in Britain.

Workshop: Knitted Quilt Block

Saturday 18 April, 10am- 1pm

Join Pauline Bayne and learn to knit a beautiful quilt block, inspired by traditional designs. Some knitting skills required.

Workshop: Cabinet of Curiosities
Saturday 9 May, 9.30am- 4.30pm

Many of us have a box full of precious objects and collected ephemera. Join artist Kate Crossley and create a cabinet of curiosities to bring your much loved objects together.

Bath Spa Mixed Media Textiles Exhibition: The Fabric of Memory
Tuesday 26- Sunday 31 May, daily 12noon- 5pn

This exciting exhibition is the result of a year-long collaborative project between Bath Spa University’s Mixed Media Textiles exploring the theme of textiles and memory.

Included with gardens only admission.

Workshop: Embroidered Posies
Saturday 27 June, 10am- 4pm

Join Heart Space Studio’s Janet Haigh and learn the art of ribbon-work, using simple hand embroidery skills to create 3-D flowers. Use hand-dyed silk ribbons, beads, and embroidery threads to create early summer blooms for a variety of different applications.

Workshop: Lace Garters
Saturday 20 June, 10am-1pm

Join Lisa Keating, bespoke bridal wear designer, and create your own twist on a classic lace garter, using in a combination of beautiful lace fabrics, ribbons, trims, and romantic trinkets.
