Tell us about your life...
Before I became a stay-at-home mom, I worked full time as a graphic designer and I do a bit of freelance graphic design work from home now. I have three kids: two boys who are almost five and three and my six month-old baby girl.
What inspired you to start blogging?
I started my blog in October 2011 to share my crafts, crochet and recipes
with other craft lovers and parents. I was already following a variety of different craft blogs as well as some crochet designers that were an inspiration to me.
How many subscribers do you have?
I have over 3,500 subscribers to my blog but I am blown away at how many people follow my Facebook page! There are now over 70,000 people who have “liked†my page and I am so grateful to each and every one of them.
How long have you been crocheting?
Only for about three years, but it was obviously a hidden talent! I taught
myself by watching YouTube videos and caught on quickly.
What do you love about sharing your designs?
I enjoy creating my own patterns and I’m happy to share them for free on my blog. It humbles me when I hear that so many of my followers use my patterns to crochet hats for NICU babies, charities, classes, and for their own small businesses so that they can help support their families. Although I write about a variety of crafts, it’s the crochet patterns that really seem to draw people to my blog.
What crochet projects are you working on at the moment?
Currently, I am working on a couple of different crochet animal hats and look forward to sharing the patterns when they are complete.
I love to crochet for my kids and often do crafts with my older two so when I am coming up with new projects I always have them in mind.
What has been your favourite design to date?
My most popular crochet project is my owl hat and it is one of my favourite designs as well, but I love how my lovey blanket series turned out. They
are small fleece blankets with crocheted edging and amigurumi heads and limbs. I’ve designed a Monster, Puppy (my favourite!), Robot, Owl, and Love Bug.
Where do you find fresh inspiration?
When I first started blogging and crocheting I got a lot of inspiration from other designers I saw on Etsy, as well as newborn photographers – they always
have the cutest props, trendy outfits for little ones, and flawless photos.
Who are your favourite bloggers?
A few of my favorite crochet bloggers are Petals to Picots, Moogly, and All About Ami. So much talent and inspiration on each of their blogs!
