Made from 79,300 crochet, knitted and felt poppies, contributed from the UK and abroad, this project debuted at Wonderwool Wales earlier this year. The idea behind the art piece was to recreate the determination of the women during World War I, who supported the troops overseas by knitting warm clothes. It’s on show at museums in Wales, before finding its home at the Gower Heritage Centre. To see the Curtain of Poppies for yourself, just head to “show events” over at www.wonderwoolwales.co.uk.
