As
regular readers know, we love to embrace the seasons here at Inside Crochet,
and we’re reaching peak bloom in the gardens, fields and hedgerows of Britain,
offering a riot of colour and scent.
This issue celebrates the lovely smudges of rich colour we can see whizzing past while we look out of windows from a travelling car or train, and brings to mind the impression of colours and scenes in art.
We love the rich shades of Cassie Ward’s Brushstrokes Jacket and the abstract landscape in Theodora Burrow’s fabulous tee, as well as the bold florals of Rhian Drinkwater’s fab coasters and bunting motif.
There’s also the dreamy hint of Claude Monet in Simone Francis’s gorgeous blanket and cushion set, Kate Rowell’s En Plein Air Wrap and my own Giverny-inspired bag. I love the use of speckled and gradient yarns in really wearable pieces, and as usual Claire Montgomerie and Helda Panagary have come up trumps with their Mohair Scallop Shawl and Lotus Petal Shawl respectively. There’s so much to love in this issue!
I’ve been enjoying getting to know my new garden, and as we hurtle towards the summer solstice I’ve loved seeing it go from daffodils, through tulips and forgetme-nots to poppies and alliums – so inspiring for crocheted colour combinations. I hope you get as much pleasure from this issue as I do and I can’t wait to see your versions of these must-make patterns on social media!
