I must admit to being completely bonkers about Christmas. It’s the preparation that I love best – listening to Christmas songs, decorating the tree, all the gift buying and making… However, for all my love of the season, I am definitely not an organised shopper! If you too are a last-minute presentgetter, head straight to this month’s gift guide on page 16 for beautiful and practical ideas, or try some of our quick-to-make accessories.
This month’s issue is packed with seasonal projects, including some simple Christmas decorations that are perfect for getting the kids involved. Try Tracey Todhunter’s Baubles, which children can felt and then sew their own embellishment onto, or the Irish Angel, which only needs an embroidered face to have its own unique personality.
If you want a beautiful garment for the big day or a party, we have plenty to tempt you. Some even feature my favourite metallic yarns – on-trend yet totally festive – such as Mary Beth Temple’s elegant cardigan designed for voluptuous curves on page 58.
I’m delighted to introduce our new regular columnist this month, Sara Sinaguglia, who some of you may know from her fabulous blog, One Churchill’s Green. Sara will be providing us with crafting tips, musings and stunning designs in upcoming issues, and her first project could be a great gift – if you can bear to part with it, that is!
