The winter chill has descended, and suddenly it isn’t hard to believe that the festive season is on the horizon. Of course, Christmas has to be considered months in advance – that is, if you’re planning parties and homemade gifts! We have plenty of projects which fit the bill and that won’t take all year to hook.
If you love hanging decorations each year, then the fabulous fripperies we have this month will not disappoint, from angels and baubles for the tree to table adornments. My personal favourite is a stunning Yuletide bunting made from teeny Christmas stockings. You could also use the stocking pattern to make individual tree ornaments, or hook up 24 little socks and string them as bunting to create a fun advent calendar for your children, perfect for filling with chocolates, gifts or activities for the run up to the big day.
Gift wise, we have all the bases covered. If you have a lot of time on your hands that extra special gift could be a cosy cardigan, while if you have a lot of presents to hook and not a lot of time to make them, then you cannot go wrong with socks, a practical bag or a contemporary slouch beanie hat.
As for me, Simone Francis’ chunky Tunisian cardigan is high on my gift list to myself, and I will definitely be making a few of Jo Bodley’s elegant collars. Pretty and versatile, the beaded version will be the perfect style statement for a party, while the plain versions are great for everyday wear.
Thank you to all our readers for your support this past year and a very happy, hooky holiday to you all!
