Have you tried amigurumi yet? These sweet crocheted toys are fun to make and easy to pack with personality, as well as a great way to interest children in our crafting – my son has little interest in a new handmade jumper, but will constantly nag me for a new soft toy to cuddle up to in bed! This issue we’re taking a special interest in amigurumi, with our great free gift set packed with useful accessories such as safety eyes, stitch markers, sweet noses and more. And to help you try them out we’ve got a selection of adorable ami designs for you to make, from Dendennis’s star-covered giraffe on page 74 to the start of our gorgeous new series of Calendar Girls – one for every month of the year!

With spring finally approaching, we’ve also got plenty of fashion designs to keep you layered up through the season, including Sarah Shrimpton’s stunning graduated shawl, Cassie Ward’s stylish long-length waistcoat and Zoë Halstead’s Tunisian crochet cowl which has a great staggered stripe effect in a lovely marled yarn.

I’m also really pleased to introduce our new columnist, Dedri Uys of Look At What I Made. Dedri is known for her fabulous homeware and toy designs, and will be bringing a homely spot of colour to Inside Crochet, starting with a pretty and practical doorstop that’s also fab for storing all those bits and pieces that always appear around the house.
