Get your bicycle ready for all those trips to the seaside with a pretty and practical basket, crocheted in sturdy garden twine and adorned with a jewel-bright trim.
MATERIALS
For Basket:
â— Cardoc Garden Twine 5ply, 100% jute, 400g
Shade: Natural x 2 balls
â— 8mm hook
â— Stitch marker
◠Two L shaped metal brackets, 15mm/½in
â— Hardboard to fit shape of base inside (optional)
â— Two bicycle basket straps
â— Cotton thread
For Trim:
â— Rico Design Creative Cotton Aran, 100% cotton, 50g/85m/93yds
Yarn A: Cardinal 11 x 1 ball
Yarn B: Sky Blue 37 x 1 ball
Yarn C: Light Green 40 x 1 ball
Yarn D: Tangerine 76 x 1 ball
Yarn E: Fuchsia 13 x 1 ball
â— 4mm hook
YARN ALTERNATIVES
You need around 30g/50m/55yds of DK or aran weight yarn to make the trim. The trim should fit between the two basket straps – the pattern can be easily adjusted to fit the size of your basket.
TENSION
Exact tension is not essential to this pattern.
MEASUREMENTS
Finished basket is approximately 16 x 22 x 36cm/6¼ x 8¾ x 14¼in.
