The Rustic Issue
As summer draws to its inevitable close, the long shadows and cooler evening air brings with it thoughts of autumn and its golden light. September is a month of new beginnings, and for us crocheters it’s also a chance to get back to our cosy stash of wool. As much as we love crocheting with cotton, linen and lighter fibres, we all love the weight of wool on our laps as we’re working, and this issue of Inside Crochet abounds with soft, bouncy natural fibres and colours.
Inside this issue
We’ll be starting our project list with Zoe Curtis’s wonderful Flaxen Balaclava, made with luxurious Isager Merilin yarn, a cosy blend of Merino wool and linen. And we cannot wait to have the soft cocoon of Rosina Northcott’s beautiful Highland Heathers Shawl wrapped around our shoulders during the cooler months. For a brilliant stashbuster using single skeins of DK, we’ll definitely be wearing Cassie Ward’s Log Cabin Tank – perfect for slipping over a favourite linen dress.
Of course, pleasingly, autumn is the season of the cardigan and we’ve got some beautiful projects – Jenny Street’s Alpine Bloom design has a classic cottagecore vibe and uses one of our favourite yarns from Eden Cottage Yarns. For beginners, the Pennine Neckerchief will be an addictive new pattern to try, and we even have instructions for the knitters among you too, to try something different with your crochet project!
