Autumn really is a bonanza for crocheters. There's inspiration absolutely everywhere in the shape of warm colours, the falling temperatures necessitating quick-hook layers and, of course, the shops starting to set out their Christmas displays. Yes, yes for many people it's too early for that particular C word, but for us crafters it's the ideal time to sit with hook and yarn and lovingly produce the perfect gift.
Luckily we have a plethora of beautiful designs for you this month, starting with the fabulous free booklet of exclusive decoration designs by our own columnist, Matt Farci.
If that wasn't festive enough for you, this issue is full of magical colour inspired by the folklore and fairy tales of Northern Europe. The Wilderness Cape by Michelle White and Ginny amigurumi doll capture the childlike magic of Hans Christian Andersen's tales, while the Blossom Cowl and Eclectic Jumper could be straight out of a Russian princess's wardrobe. The riot of colour is also complemented by pom-poms galore, seen on Tracey Todhunter's luxurious scarf, Ruby McGrath's funky tree skirt and Vicki Brown's super cute ankle socks. In fact, never mind the gifts you'll want to keep all of these to yourselves!
We do believe its important to practise mindfulness and self-care during the lead-up to Christmas, so we prescribe a wonderful and whimsical make in the shape of Pollevie's incredible Pollebird wrap! The colours and motifs sing folk style to us, and it's perfect for using odd balls of stash. And of course, we have part three of Jane Crowfoot's stunning Climbing Rose CAL. If you haven't already, share your progress online on Facebook and Instagram we love to see your riffs on Inside Crochet designs. Until next time, happy hooking!
