The Storm Issue

Our stormy January issue is packed with cosy patterns that are a joy to make as well as wear. We hope the combination of contemporary designs, gorgeous yarns and clever crochet work lightens the darker days of deep winter.

Inside this issue

We have to begin with Alessandra Poggiagliomi's fabulous Huge Scarf which Claire had great fun styling at the photoshoot! It combines a nod to the good old granny square and pulls it right into 2022 with pops of colour and a wonderfully oversized look. Cassie Ward's beautiful Windy Beach Jumper, with its wide ribbing and pure wool yarn, gives a gentle introduction to colourwork and Simone Francis has created the perfect shawl-collared cardigan, including lovely deep pockets – we all love pockets!

We've also included plenty of really warm accessories for layering up on icy walks. The Anfa Dickie, made in chunky roving yarn, is a clever extra layer for under winter coats, while Emma Varnam's pretty mittens are ideal if you're just starting your crochet journey. And who could resist the delightful puddle-jumping doll by Sarah-Jane Hicks? Resplendent in red wellies with her yellow raincoat and rainbow jumper, she embodies all that is joyful about being outside in wet and windy weather!
