Glastonbury 2022 was not just a celebration of the very best of musical talent (hurrah for the sheer number of women performers this year) but it seemed to us that crochet took centre stage as the ‘must wear’ fashion focus, which was wonderful to see.
It has long been our mission at Inside Crochet to shake off the misconception that crochet is the poorer cousin to knitting when it comes to garments. Of course, we already know we lead the way when it comes to accessories and homewares!
This issue is no exception. Inspired by our Modern Art brief, Claire Montgomerie has created the beautiful brushed alpaca Rothko Top, perfect for cooler summer evenings, and Blazenka-Simic Boro’s Neon Mint Top, with its clever use of box stitch, and Cassie Ward’s motif tank top are both patterns that could have graced this season’s catwalks. Heading into late summer, Fran Morgan’s wonderfully colourful Kandinsky Jumper, made in beautiful West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4ply, will lift your spirits every time you wear it!
Of course we are packed full of wonderful accessories, toys and homewares too – but if you haven’t ventured into garment making yet, we urge you to give it a try! And two reminders from us this month. Don’t forget to get your Yarndale tickets as we’ll be back in Yorkshire this year and are looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible. And watch out for next month’s issue. We’re celebrating a whopping 150 issues with a riot of circus-themed crochet party goodies!
