The Hazy, Lazy Issue

Shadows are lengthening, mornings are dewy and there’s a sweet crispness in the air. The lazy, hazy days of late summer and early autumn encourage soft, faded colours and light fluffy makes and this issue of Inside Crochet has those in spades.

Inside this issue

We're loving our designers’ takes on late summer, taking their inspiration from the retro visuals of Wes Anderson – in Cassie Ward’s beautifully geek-chic cardigan – the dreamy softness of Sofia Coppola’s feminine films – captured in Kath Webber's Luxe Slipover design – or the nostalgic fabrics of the 1960s and 70s – as in Theodora Burrow’s textured African flowers blanket and Kwannie Cheng’s market bag.

And talking of early autumn, Sarah-Jane Hicks has come up with two really stunning floral designs that celebrate the beautiful flowers we enjoy at this time of year. The cosmos on page 94 are a delight, and we defy you not to make half a dozen of her hydrangea mats on page 86 to go underneath every vase you own.

We also have some beautiful projects for those wanting to use their stash to try something new. Helda Panagary has designed a perfect first Tunisian crochet project with her gorgeous scarfette, using a strand of hand-dyed fingering-weight yarn and some precious mohair. And as usual Claire Montgomerie’s masterclass is not to be missed – socks that are perfect for the season ahead.

So dive into your most floofy stash and get inspired – don’t forget to share your makes online and tag us @insidecrochet.
