The Girl About Town Issue

Currently, I am being constantly reminded how many short weeks there are until Christmas by my sister, who has three small children to find the perfect present for. Although we are still in October as I write this, time is running out if you want to crochet or make any beautiful gifts to give this year, so this month we have provided a whole host of small, yet perfectly formed, projects that anyone would be overjoyed to receive - if you can bear to part with them!

Inside this issue

If you know a fellow crocheter or crafter, then a very sweet pincushion or stylish hook roll would be a great choice, while any friend would be glad to receive a beautiful accessory and we have plenty of those to choose from, whether they desire a homemade scarf, shawl, some homeware or cosy gloves, we have it covered. And when it comes to my nephews, the adorable Wee Mousie on page 77 is the ideal gift.

On the fashion front, there is a definite chill in the air now but we have some great projects that will see you through most situations, from everyday casual wear, to evening and even work wear with Christine Harvey's stylishly smart Barnaby Skirt on page 52. I'm having a huge dilemma over what to hook from these goodies this month, but I think a must-make on any crochet to-do list is Emma Varnam's classic Leighton Cardigan on page 58. It's the perfect shape and will complement any outfit. I love that it can be dressed up with brooches and fancy buttons or worn simply with jeans. We have some interesting reads inside this issue too, including an inspirational feature on the textiles work of Henry Moore. Most people don't even realise he worked in this discipline, but his printed fabrics are so relevant today and vintage-inspired fabrics look fabulous paired with crochet in craft projects.
