The Botanical Issue

Living in the UK we're fortunate enough to experience all the four seasons, and recently we have been taking some time to connect with these, noticing the sounds, smells and sights of the time of year and learning more about the folklore and traditions that our pagan and druid ancestors practised centuries ago. Imbolc has passed now, and the promise of spring awaits – a most exciting time even after a mild winter! And so this issue of Inside Crochet celebrates the anticipation of a new season.

Inside this issue

We love the first signs of spring, with white buds, green shoots and new growth, earthy colours and crisp aromas, and we hope you'll love this issue that shows the beauty of botany! We particularly admire Joanne Scrace's take on the theme, with a stunning linen-blend yarn showing off the crisp stitches in an oh-so-wearable Vernal sweater, and Theodora Burrow's lace jacket, crocheted in bamboo and cotton plant fibres to keep you cool in summer and ideal for layering on cooler days. For an artistic take on the botanical trend, Claire Montgomerie's stunning abstract wrap uses colour and shape to express the theme perfectly and would make Matisse proud!

For the plant fans among you, there's plenty to decorate the home, too. Emily Platt's Monstera colourwork blanket features bold colours and would fit in any modern interior, and Kate Rowell's plant pot cover is contemporary and cute with its bobbles and pastel shades. If that's not enough urban jungle inspiration for you then we are so proud to include Scheepjes' stunning Tropical print bookazine with this issue, to keep you going with bold colours and gorgeous fibres through to summertime!
