The Minimalism Issue

With all the chaos of the festive season well underway, it’s sometimes nice to take time to just breathe… This stunning issue invites you to do just that, with projects focused on a pared-back approach, a simple colour palette and smooth yarns fostering calm, as well as a feeling of warmth and abundance.

Inside this issue

Earlier this year we were saddened by the loss of one of our dear crochet friends, Fran Morgan. Her crochet and knitting designs were always wearable, clever and timeless. We are all sending our love to her sons, who have kindly allowed us to publish Fran’s last pattern for us. It’s a perfect garment: gorgeous colours and a wardrobe classic – we can’t wait to make this beautiful cardigan. Thank you, Fran.

I also love the construction of Kimberley Bate’s chunky waistcoat; I think corner-to-corner crochet is so clever and the tweedy, chunky yarn creates the ideal layering piece. Cassie Ward has once again knocked it out the park with a beautiful motif sweater – so effective worked in a single colour. There’s also a gorgeous gradient-style natural sweater by Emma Wright, an adorable earwarmer and some textured boot cuffs by Blazenka Simic-Boro, and Zoe Curtis’s tapestry backpack.

Embracing the interiors trend for stylish minimalism, we have some fabulous plant-pot covers by Kwannie Cheng, as well as wonderful hanging baskets by Emma Wright.

It’s the last instalment of Jane Crowfoot’s heirloom Arts & Crafts crochet-along, with 14 pages dedicated to the final Bedford Park motif and the joining instructions. We’ve loved seeing your versions of the blanket, bag and cushions, so please keep on sharing your images on social media!
