Gingerbread House

This fun crocheted version of a traditional gingerbread house is perfect for children to play with and can be a treasured staple of the Christmas decorations.

Materials

* Stylecraft Special DK, 100% acrylic, 100g/295m/322yds 
Yarn A: Gingerbread 1806 x 1 ball
Yarn B: Cream 1005 x 1 ball
Yarn C: Powder Pink 1843 x 1 ball
Yarn D: Lipstick 1246 x 1 ball

* 3.5mm hook

* Markers or coloured thread

* Cardboard to cut as specified

* Eight buttons, 15mm/¾in

* Three buttons, 12mm/½in

* One heart-shaped button, 25mm/1in

* Two 10cm/4in lengths 2.5mm cream ribbon 

* Polyester stuffing

Yarn Alternatives

You can use any DK weight cotton to achieve a similar effect. Although we have used set colours and yarn for this design, we would suggest using up remnants from your stash of yarns to make your house unique.
