Havet Shawl

The deep Norwegian fjords, the moody and volatile Oresund Strait, the icy Baltic… With its striking, ripple-like lace pattern extending down the middle, Havet is a nod to Scadinavian waters.

Materials

* John Arbon Harvest Hues 4ply, 65% Falklands Merino wool/35% Zwarbles wool, 100g/400m/436yds
Yarn A: Woad (cobalt blue) x 1 skein
Yarn B: Blue Spruce (blue-green) x 2 skeins

* 3mm hook

* Two removable stitch markers

* Yarn needle

Yarn Alternatives

This shawl is designed for a 4ply-weight yarn. Any lofty fibre with a soft handle and good drape will work. Some yarns may need blocking more than once to open up the stitches fully. 

Note that shawl actually uses 200m/218yds of yarn A and 700m/765yds of yarn B.

Row 1: (Set-up row) Miss 1 ch, (1tr, 1dc) in next ch, change to yarn A, 2tr in same ch as last sts just worked, miss 3 ch, 1ch, (1tr, 2ch, 3tr) in next ch, miss 3 ch, (1tr, 1ch, 1tr) in next ch, miss 3 ch, 1ch, (1tr, 2ch, 3tr) in next ch, miss 3 ch, 2tr in next ch, change to yarn B2 (see Pattern Notes), (1dc, 1tr) in same ch as last lace sts just worked, turn – 25 sts.
