Summer is finally here, bringing with it outdoor living, festival dancing and caravanning. So far, so British. But crochet is having a moment not seen since the late 1960s, which for us at Inside Crochet conjures up images of Airstream trailers, palm trees and plastic flamingos adorning the lawns of California’s mid-century homes.
The Coachella Co-ord Set by Cassie Ward is the perfect example of Palm Springs style, with its pastel shades and 70s shapes, and is easily versatile when worn as separates or layered over swimwear for poolside lounging. The Sandy Shells Crop Top designed by Theodora Burrow feels so sophisticated with its vintage stitch pattern and swingy shape – and we can’t help but feel Jackie O would pair it with Rosina Northcott’s Savannah Headscarf and Kath Webber's sunglasses case and lanyard, named after the icon herself.
If your interiors style leans towards mid-century modern, then we have plenty of projects to get you California dreamin’. Jess Bennett’s A Bigger Splash Wall Hanging is an ode to David Hockney’s colourful paintings, and the Oasis Blanket immediately recalls azure skies and pina coladas by the motel pool.
